Ex-Kansas Detective Golubski Dies by Suicide Before Trial

Roger Golubski, a former Kansas police detective accused of kidnapping and raping women, died by suicide before his criminal civil rights trial. Golubski, 71, was found dead after failing to appear for jury selection. He was accused of using his position to assault vulnerable Black women and was also linked to a drug kingpin in a sex trafficking case. The allegations emerged during a civil case involving a wrongful conviction, leading to a $12.5 million settlement. Despite limited evidence, the trial was set to focus on victim credibility. Federal prosecutors expressed regret that the case won't be publicly tried.
