Escapee's Unusual Adventures: Hot Dogs, Handcuff Keys, and Job Applications

Correctional officers assigned to guard a convicted child sex predator, Tommy Wayne Boyd, who escaped custody by walking out of a hospital, are no longer employed by the department. Boyd was captured nearly 16 hours later after a good Samaritan gave him a ride to the South City area. He was found with a handcuff key and had obtained a hot dog during the manhunt. The Missouri Department of Corrections stated that their protocol was not followed regarding Boyd's supervision at the hospital. The department's social media accounts did not provide updates on the situation until the following day. Mercy Hospital South stated that they rely on the department of corrections to keep inmates contained on their campus.
