Escaped California Inmate Captured After 7-Day Manhunt in Fresno

A 19-year-old inmate who walked off a minimum-security conservation camp in Nevada County, California, was captured in Fresno after being missing for seven days. Malachi D. Thomas was apprehended without incident and taken to North Kern State Prison. He will face escape charges, and his case will be referred to the Nevada County District Attorney. Thomas was serving a seven-year sentence for assault and was admitted to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from Fresno County.
