DOJ Charges Ray Epps, Key Figure in Jan. 6 Conspiracy Theories

Ray Epps, a participant in the January 6 Capitol attack, has been charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) with one misdemeanor count of disorderly or disruptive conduct on restricted grounds. Epps, whose removal from the FBI's Capitol Violence webpage fueled conspiracy theories that he was a federal informant, is expected to enter a plea deal. While most individuals who unlawfully gathered on the Capitol grounds have not been charged, Epps' involvement in attempting to deescalate tensions between police and rioters, as well as his proximity to restricted areas, led to his charges. Epps has filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News and Tucker Carlson for spreading conspiracy theories about his involvement.
