Detroit Police Officer Charged with Manslaughter for Fatal Punch on Elderly Man

A Detroit police officer, Juwan Marquise-Alexander Brown, has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly punching a 71-year-old man, Daryl Vance, during an incident at a bowling alley. The victim fell and hit his head, resulting in his death several weeks later. Brown pleaded not guilty and was terminated from the Detroit Police Department. If convicted, he faces a 15-year sentence. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office stated that the officer's actions went beyond what was necessary and cannot be tolerated. Brown's attorney requested a personal bond, emphasizing his lack of criminal history and ties to the community. A probable cause conference has been scheduled for January 3.
