Detention Deputy Arrested for Supplying Inmates with Contraband

A former Oconee County Detention deputy, Tyler Christian Watson, has been arrested for providing contraband to inmates between May 1 and August 19 while working at the detention center. The Oconee County Sheriff's Office conducted an internal inquiry and found enough evidence, including evidence from Watson himself, to charge him with misconduct in office and furnishing contraband into a detention facility. Watson turned himself in and remains in jail pending a bond hearing. The OCSO is not releasing any information about the contraband found due to an ongoing investigation.
