Deputies Shoot Man Holding Child Hostage in Spartanburg County

Deputies in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, shot and killed a man who was holding a child hostage and threatening to harm others. The incident occurred after deputies responded to a disturbance call and attempted to make contact with the man. All but one child managed to escape the house, while the man continued to hold the remaining child hostage and brandish a rifle. In defense of the hostage and themselves, deputies ultimately shot the man. The shooting is currently under investigation.
