Deadly Shootings in Albuquerque: Store Owner and International District

The owner of a smoke shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shot and killed a burglar who was tunneling through the wall of his store. The owner had been sleeping inside the store to prevent break-ins and was woken up by the sound of the burglar. The burglar was waving a hammer and chisel, causing the owner to fear for his life. The owner warned the burglar to leave, but when the burglar walked towards him swinging, the owner opened fire. Police are investigating the incident as a justifiable homicide.
