"Continuing Investigation into West Hartford Officer-Involved Shooting"

The man killed in a West Hartford officer-involved shooting has been identified as 34-year-old Mike Alexander-Garcia. The Office of Inspector General, along with Connecticut State Police and the West Hartford Police Department, released five videos, including dash and body cam footage, of the incident. The shooting occurred after Alexander-Garcia fled from a stolen vehicle and attempted to carjack two others before entering a garage bay at Town Fair Tire. Officer Andrew Teeter deployed a K9 and entered the vehicle in an attempt to apprehend Alexander-Garcia, but he managed to drive out of the parking lot, striking two vehicles. Officer Teeter then discharged his weapon multiple times, fatally shooting Alexander-Garcia, who crashed into a utility pole. The officer suffered injuries, while the K9 was unharmed.
