Records from a 2013 robbery case show that Daibes reported the theft of 22 gold bars, and four of those bars with unique serial numbers were later found in Menendez's home. The serial numbers of the gold bars in the bribery indictment match those certified as stolen and returned to Daibes. Menendez and Daibes, along with other co-defendants, have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
