California Inmates Seek Justice in Federal Lawsuit Over Sexual Abuse

Eight inmates at a women's prison in Northern California have filed a lawsuit against the federal Bureau of Prisons, alleging ongoing sexual abuse and exploitation despite the prosecution of the former warden and several former officers. The lawsuit claims that the Bureau of Prisons and staff at the facility failed to prevent sexual abuse dating back to the 1990s. The plaintiffs are seeking a third party to oversee the prison, access to medical and mental health care for victims, and compassionate release for victims. The lawsuit also asks for a special visa program for victims who are living in the country illegally.
