Arrest Made in 1975 Cold Case Murder of Delaware County Girl

David G. Zandstra, an 83-year-old former minister, has been charged with the murder of 8-year-old Gretchen Harrington, who went missing in August 1975. Zandstra, who knew the victim and her family, is facing charges of first-, second-, and third-degree murder, kidnapping, and other related charges. After decades of investigation, a witness came forward, alleging that Zandstra had molested her around the time of Harrington's disappearance. During police questioning, Zandstra admitted to seeing Harrington on the day she disappeared, offering her a ride, and assaulting her. He is currently in custody in Georgia and is fighting extradition to Pennsylvania. Harrington's family expressed hope that justice will be served for their daughter's abduction and murder.
