The family of a 9-year-old girl has filed a lawsuit against Boston Public Schools, the City of Boston, Match Charter School, and a Transdev bus driver and monitor, alleging that the school failed to protect the child from repeated sexual assault and rape by another student on a school bus. The lawsuit claims that the assaults occurred over a seven-month period and took place just feet away from the bus monitor and driver. The family's attorneys argue that the school and bus company failed to follow their policies, leading to the child's assault. The girl suffered physical and mental harm and was forced to leave school due to fear. The lawsuit also alleges that the bus driver and monitor knew or should have known about the abuse and had a duty to intervene and report it. The family is demanding a trial by jury. Boston Public Schools stated that they were limited in their ability to take action since the student did not attend a Boston Public School, but they provided information to Match Charter School for investigation.
