Alex Murdaugh transferred to protective custody in SC prison after double-murder conviction.

Alex Murdaugh, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murders of his wife and son, has been moved to a protective custody unit in a South Carolina maximum-security prison. His new 8-by-10-foot cell is separated from the general population and includes former law enforcement or corrections officers who need extra security. He will stay in the unit for a year, after which administrators will assess whether to move him into the general population or keep him in protective custody for his safety.
