"5 Defendants Plead Not Guilty in Newport Police Altercation Case"

Five out of six individuals accused of fighting with Newport police officers after a wedding pleaded not guilty to charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer. The altercation began when a man was denied entry to a restaurant and later turned into a violent assault, leaving an officer with a broken nose, concussion, and broken ribs. The most serious charges of assault on police officers and other officials are faced by Alexandra Flaherty and Robert Nash. The defendants with misdemeanor charges will appear in court next month, while Flaherty and Nash await the Attorney General's decision on appropriate charges.
