21-year sentence for woman who tried to kill doppelganger with poisoned cheesecake.

Viktoria Nasyrova, a Russian national, has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for attempting to kill a friend with a sedative-laced cheesecake in a plot to steal her identity. The victim survived, but her Ukrainian passport and $4,000 in cash were stolen. Nasyrova, who physically resembled the victim, did not want to be forced to return to Russia, where she is wanted for a 2014 murder. She was convicted of attempted murder, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and petit larceny. Her defense attorney plans to appeal the conviction and sentence.
