15-Year-Old Venezuelan Migrant Charged as Adult in Times Square Shooting

A 15-year-old Venezuelan migrant, who arrived in New York City less than six months ago, has been charged as an adult with attempted murder and held without bail for shooting a tourist and firing at police near Times Square. The teen was captured on security video opening fire inside a sporting goods store after a security guard stopped him with stolen merchandise, injuring a female Brazilian tourist. The NYPD quickly launched a search for the armed and dangerous teen, who was apprehended following a short manhunt. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 10.
