Ohio mother sentenced to life in prison for leaving toddler alone during vacation, resulting in child's death

An Ohio mother, Kristel Candelario, was sentenced to life in prison without parole for leaving her 16-month-old daughter alone for more than a week while she went on vacation, resulting in the child's death due to starvation and severe dehydration. The toddler weighed 13 pounds at the time of her death, a decrease of 7 pounds from her last doctor's visit less than two months prior. Candelario pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and endangering children.
