"Maryland High School Student Arrested for Planning School Shooting"

An 18-year-old Maryland high school student, Alex Ye, has been arrested and charged with threat of mass violence after authorities discovered a 129-page document detailing plans for a school shooting. The document, referred to by Ye as "his memoir," includes strategies for carrying out the act and expresses a desire for fame. Ye had a history of hospitalization for homicidal and suicidal ideations, and had expressed violent thoughts to a school counselor. The school district has increased security as a precaution, and the student has not physically attended classes since Fall 2022.
