Former acting New Bedford Fire Chief Paul Coderre was shot and killed by police after he opened fire on officers, injuring one, in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. The incident occurred when police responded to a call about an intoxicated male on Sconticut Neck Road. The injured officer was treated at a hospital and has been released, expected to make a full recovery. Coderre had been previously fired by the New Bedford Mayor for issues related to work injuries.
