Former YouTubers Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrandt have been sentenced to consecutive prison terms for aggravated child abuse, facing between one to 15 years behind bars for each count of second-degree aggravated child abuse to which they pled guilty. Franke's family described her as being brainwashed by Hildebrandt, who was accused of creating a cult-like environment and exploiting Franke's platform for her own gain. Franke and Hildebrandt both gave statements ahead of their sentencing, with Franke acknowledging her wrongdoing and expressing readiness to serve her prison sentence for the healing of her family and community, while Hildebrandt's brief statement did not resonate with the court. The two women have 30 days to file an appeal, and the issue of restitution they may owe is still pending.
