A 50-count indictment has led to the arrest of 23 individuals involved in cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, and meth trafficking in the Houston and Galveston areas, allegedly under the control of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. The operation, spanning multiple jurisdictions, has resulted in the seizure of large quantities of drugs and the arrest of 20 people, with warrants outstanding for 16 others. The indictment seeks forfeiture of $10 million in illegal proceeds, and the defendants face up to life in prison if convicted. The arrests are the culmination of a 63-month investigation dubbed Operation Rainmaker, led by the DEA and USMS with assistance from other law enforcement agencies.
