Violence Erupts at Israel-Palestine Rallies in Skokie

A gunshot was fired into the air and pro-Palestinian demonstrators were pepper-sprayed during a rally in support of Israel in Skokie and Lincolnwood. The rally, originally planned as a fundraising dinner for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, was switched to a Solidarity with Israel event due to the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. About 200 pro-Palestinian supporters gathered outside the event hall, leading to confrontations and the firing of a gunshot. One person was arrested, and another was taken into custody for the pepper-spraying incident. The U.S. Palestine Community Network organized the counter-protest to denounce Israel's actions.
