Series of Plane Crashes and Emergency Landings Cause Chaos on North Carolina Highways

Two people sustained minor injuries after a small airplane, a Diamond DA-40, crashed on Interstate 26 near Asheville Regional Airport in North Carolina. The plane hit power lines and a tractor-trailer while descending to land, causing it to catch fire. The occupants were able to escape before the fire started, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed. The plane had declared a mayday due to engine failure and smoke in the cockpit. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the incident.
