"Pilot's Risky Landing on Minnesota Lake Ends in Ice Breakthrough"

A small plane, a Cessna 172 Sky Hawk, landed on Upper Red Lake in Minnesota, breaking through thin ice. The pilot and passengers were able to escape the plane and were rescued by nearby fishermen and a Beltrami County Boat and Water Deputy. The plane had difficulty slowing down due to the lack of snow, causing it to slide into the area of thin ice. This incident occurred just days after 35 people had to be rescued when ice broke away from the shore of Upper Red Lake.
