"Clear the Shelters: Free Pet Adoptions and Full Capacity Services"

The San Diego County Department of Animal Services is waiving pet adoption fees throughout August as part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, a national effort to find loving homes for animals in shelters. The department aims to find forever homes for all the pets in their care, as shelters in the county are nearly full. Since 2015, the campaign has helped over 860,000 pets find new homes, with last year's campaign setting a record of over 161,000 adoptions. All animals adopted from county shelters will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and receive a one-year license for dogs.
