"Graphic Photos: Shark Attack Leaves Victim's Jaw Horrifically Mangled"

A surfer in Volusia County, Florida, described the horrifying moment when a shark bit into his face, leaving injuries on both sides. Mark Sumersett, who was attacked while riding a wave at New Smyrna Beach, heard a "crunch" sound as the shark clamped down on his head. He suffered a two-inch gash on the right side of his head and more severe injuries on the left side. Sumersett, the seventh person attacked in Volusia County this year, received around 20 stitches and believes his gold chain may have attracted the shark's attention. Despite the incident, he plans to continue surfing after he heals.
