The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation into the explosion at a Pennsylvania candy factory in March, which killed seven people, revealed that natural gas was leaking from two service lines. The report found that a service tee installed in 1982 was leaking gas, and a smaller leak was found in a new service line installed in 2021. The NTSB noted that the 1982 service tee was located near other infrastructures and showed signs of corrosion and a crack. The investigation is ongoing, and the candy factory company, R.M. Palmer, is cooperating with authorities.
