Tragic Rollover Claims Lives of 20 Cows in Newtown

Fourteen cows died and the exit 10 off ramp from I-84 westbound in Newtown, CT was shut down after a tractor trailer carrying 44 cows rolled over. Eight cows died and six had to be euthanized, while the remaining cows were evaluated and reported to be doing well. The driver was uninjured, and multiple departments responded to the scene, including the Department of Agriculture, Department of Transportation, and Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Cleanup efforts continued throughout the morning. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
