Tragic Carbondale Crash Claims Lives of Two SIU Students

Two students from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) were killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision between two trucks on North Illinois Avenue. The deceased students were identified as Wolfgang W. Gustaveson and Francis M. Martinez, both majoring in automotive technology. The university canceled automotive technology classes for the day and offered mental health counseling services to students. The City of Carbondale expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
