Multiple Firework Explosions Leave Man Critically Injured in Illinois

A man in Lake County, Illinois, was critically injured when a firework exploded in his face. The 58-year-old had brought commercial-grade fireworks to a residence and, after one failed to explode, he looked into the tube housing and it detonated. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition with major head injuries. Illinois is one of three states that ban the use of fireworks, except for novelty items, due to safety concerns.
