Fatal Boat Capsize Raises Oversight Questions in Lockport Cave Tours

Harshad Shah, 65, has been identified as the victim who died when a tour boat capsized during a cave tour of the Erie Canal in Lockport, Niagara County. The boat overturned and all 29 people on board were thrown into the water. Shah, who had been trapped underneath the overturned boat, was pronounced dead at the scene. Eleven other people were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
