Fatal Accident on I-75: Tire Fatality in Boone County

An 18-year-old woman, Lauren A. Collins, was killed when her vehicle was struck by a loose tire on I-75 in Boone County. The tire flew over the concrete barrier from a northbound vehicle, possibly a dually pickup, and crashed into Collins's car's windshield. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but later died. The Boone County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident and is seeking information from the public.
