Deadly Dust Storm Causes Massive Car Crash in Illinois

A sudden dust storm caused a massive pileup involving as many as 80 vehicles on Interstate 55 in Montgomery County, Illinois, resulting in multiple deaths and dozens of injuries. Excessive winds blowing dirt from farm fields across the highway caused the crash, which involved 40 to 60 passenger vehicles and at least 20 commercial vehicles, including two semi-trucks that caught fire. The stretch of I-55 where the accident took place is expected to be closed until Tuesday afternoon.
