Connecticut Bridge Fuel Tanker Crash Leaves 1 Dead and Multiple Injured

A fuel tanker caught fire on the Gold Star Bridge in Groton, Connecticut, after a passenger car tire blew out and hit the tanker, causing it to spill about 2,200 gallons of fuel. The accident resulted in the death of the truck driver and several injuries. The southbound lanes of the bridge remain closed while the investigation is ongoing, and the Department of Transportation is conducting a structural analysis of the bridge. Buildings below the bridge were also on fire, and the environmental team is working to contain the fuel oil that spilled out onto the river.
