Amtrak train derails in Moorpark after colliding with truck

Several cars of an Amtrak Coast Starlight train derailed after colliding with a county water truck in Moorpark, California. At least 16 people, including the truck driver, were taken to local hospitals. Conflicting reports on the number of passengers on the train were given, with Amtrak stating 198 passengers and Ventura County Fire Engineer stating 186 passengers. The cause of the collision and subsequent smoke under the luggage car is still unknown. Passengers recounted the jolt and evacuation, with some suffering minor injuries. Traffic in the area was slow, and a reunification center was set up for family members to reunite with passengers.
