In the event of King Charles's death, the Operation Menai Bridge contingency plan would kick in, with arrangements for his formal state funeral starting almost immediately. The new monarch would automatically inherit the throne, with Prince William next in line. Camilla, as a spouse of the monarch, cannot inherit the title of sovereign, and would not be able to keep her title of Queen Consort. She could technically take the role of queen-dowager, but it's not yet known if she would use that moniker. Prince Harry would likely become Regent until Prince George is old enough to carry out the roles of a constitutional monarch.
