Famed Lion Bob Junior, 'King of the Serengeti,' Killed by Rivals

Bob Junior, a 10-year-old lion known as the "king of the Serengeti," was killed by three younger rivals in a battle for dominance. The celebrated predator did not put up a fight and was worn down by his assailants. Bob Junior had ruled his pride in northern Tanzania for about seven years along with his brother, Tryggve, who was believed to have been killed as well in a separate attack. Serengeti National Park is home to about 3,000 lions split into some 300 prides.
