Unraveling the Haunting Tale of Murder in Boston's Charles Stuart

The new Max true crime docuseries, Murder in Boston: Roots, Rampage & Reckoning, explores the case of Charles Stuart, a Boston fur store manager who claimed that he and his pregnant wife, Carol, were shot by a Black man in 1989. Initially believed by police, Charles later became the prime suspect when his brother revealed that Charles planned to commit insurance fraud. Charles's body was found in the Mystic River the day after his brother went to the police. He was never arrested for the crime, and while he left a suicide note, it did not contain a confession.
