Prince William settles phone-hacking claim for 'very large sum'

Prince William received a "very large sum of money" in a 2020 settlement with News Group Newspapers, owned by Rupert Murdoch, for phone hacking, according to court documents revealed in one of Prince Harry's lawsuits. Harry's suit alleges that the newspapers unlawfully gathered information in a scandal dating back two decades. News Group Newspapers argued that the claims were brought too late, but Harry said he was prevented from bringing his case because of a secret agreement between the royal family and the newspapers that called for a settlement and apology.
