David Breashears, a renowned mountaineer and filmmaker known for his IMAX documentary "Everest," has passed away at the age of 68. He co-directed and co-produced the 1998 documentary, which showcased his passion for climbing and photography. Breashears also founded GlacierWorks, a nonprofit organization focused on highlighting the impact of climate change on Himalayan glaciers. Throughout his career, he achieved numerous milestones, including transmitting the first live television pictures from the summit of Everest and becoming the first U.S. citizen to reach the summit twice.
