Beloved TV Meteorologist Frank Field Dies at 100
Frank Field, a longtime meteorologist and health reporter at WNBC-TV, has passed away at the age of 100. Field spent 25 years of his career at WNBC and gained national attention for his appearances on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson. He also contributed to health and science reporting and is credited with popularizing the Heimlich maneuver. Field's influence extended to other meteorologists, including Al Roker. After leaving WNBC, he joined WCBS and ended his television career at WWOR in 2004. Field's post-TV career focused on fire safety advocacy. He is survived by his three children, who also became meteorologists, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
