Unveiling the Spectacular Restoration of 'Stop Making Sense': Big Suits, Lost Tapes, and Dancing Heads

The iconic concert film "Stop Making Sense" by Talking Heads has undergone a miraculous restoration process for its 40th anniversary. After the rights to the film reverted back to the band, they teamed up with A24 for a full restoration and rerelease. The restoration supervisor had to embark on a detective story to locate the original materials, including the negative and audio tracks, which had been lost for decades. The film's original audio was found in a vault in Kansas, while the negative was discovered sitting on a shelf in Burbank. The restoration process involved syncing up the sound and picture from different performances, resulting in a revitalized version of the concert film.
