Taylor Swift's "Cardigan" and "Willow" Almost Became National Anthems

The National's Matt Berninger revealed that he had tried to see if Taylor Swift's "Cardigan" and "Willow" could have been songs for the band instead. The instrumentals for both were written by Aaron and Bryce Dessner. The National have a new album coming out next week, featuring collaborations with Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens. Aaron Dessner also discussed his work on Ed Sheeran's upcoming album and the importance of authenticity in music.
