Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, two iconic country music singers, reportedly went through 52 cases of beer backstage at a festival in 1980. The backstage crew alone consumed over 1,200 beers before the concert even started. In a separate event, Merle Haggard set a Guinness World Record in 1983 by buying 5,095 shots of whiskey for patrons at a bar. The record stood until 2016 when a U.K. brewery bought 412 beers. Despite losing the official record, Haggard's round of drinks is still considered the largest.
