Japanese Musician Ryuichi Sakamoto Passes Away at 71

Japanese musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, keyboardist of the electronic music band Yellow Magic Orchestra, has died at the age of 71 after battling stage IV cancer. Sakamoto won an Oscar and Grammy for scoring the 1987 movie "The Last Emperor" and was known for his theoretical views and vast knowledge of classical and folk music. He was also actively involved in the anti-nuclear power movement in recent years. Sakamoto's legacy includes over 30 film scores and his work with More Trees, a Tokyo-based forest conservation group.
