Diddy reportedly pays Sting $5,000 a day for sampling The Police's "Every Breath You Take" on the 1997 Biggie Smalls tribute "I'll Be Missing You." Sting confirmed the perpetual payment during a 2018 appearance on Power 105.1 FM's "The Breakfast Club." The sample was used to honor the late Notorious B.I.G. Diddy's tweet seemingly confirmed his eternal obligation to the Police frontman. If the agreement was put in place in 1997, Diddy would have paid Sting roughly $47.4 million dollars to date for his lyrical salute to the slain Biggie.
