Models Sue Over Alleged Rape by Miramax and Weinstein Associates

Harvey Weinstein is facing a new legal battle over allegations that his former Miramax colleague, Fabrizio Lombardo, raped a 19-year-old model two decades ago. Sara Ziff is suing Weinstein, Miramax, Disney, and others alleging that Lombardo's position within the company directly facilitated the rape. Ziff is suing Lombardo for sexual battery and gender-motivated violence, and the others for negligent supervision. Weinstein's attorney denies any liability for the alleged conduct of Lombardo. The lawsuit is possible due to New York's Adult Survivors Act, which temporarily lifts the statute of limitations on certain sexual misconduct claims.
