Jamie Dornan's Toxic Caterpillar Health Scare

Actor Jamie Dornan and friend Gordon Smart were hospitalized with heart attack symptoms during a vacation in Portugal, which turned out to be caused by toxic pine processionary caterpillars. Smart experienced tingling in his left hand and high heart rate, while Dornan's left arm and leg went numb. The caterpillars' toxic hairs contain a protein that can cause skin, eye, and throat irritations, as well as allergic reactions. Both men consider themselves lucky to have survived the ordeal.
