Barry Keoghan's Near-Death Battle with Flesh-Eating Disease

Actor Barry Keoghan revealed in a GQ interview that he almost died from necrotizing fasciitis, a rare flesh-eating bacterial infection, just days before filming The Banshees of Inisherin. Keoghan's arm was puffed up and amputation was considered, but he ultimately survived. Writer Martin McDonagh whispered to him in the hospital, "Just remember this when you've been nominated for an Oscar."
